Things Won’t Change Until You Change
…when I first heard this piece of advice it passed over my head.
‘For things to change, things have got to change.’
A cute play on words you could say, but read it over and over again and it’s make a whole lot of sense.
For your writing to get better, you’ve got to get better at it.
For your blog traffic to get better, you’ve got to get better at driving traffic to it.
To get more free time, you’ve got to get better at the way you spend it.
But for most people they’ll toss up an excuse and leave it at that. That’s their answer to that problem, case closed, not moving to square one, can’t do it.
Two weeks back I didn’t like where my health, my mindset, and business were going.
I’d put on weight, wasn’t a lot, but enough that I could grab it.
I’d let the day dictate to me how I should feel and what mood I should be in.
I was working too hard on my business, neglecting my family, and wasn’t productive with my time.
A week later, I can honestly say I’m a different person.
What did I do?
I ditched the TV, and got up earlier.
When you’ve got no TV to fill the gaps in your time, you’ll find a lot of time for doing the things you should be doing. Like going for a walk, heading to the gym and spending time with family.
As for getting up earlier, it’s not just getting a head start on the day, but also setting your head up right. Filling it with something positive before you turn your attention to the world and your business.
Meditate for ten minutes.
Watch a positive video on YouTube
Write a gratitude list.
Whatever it takes.
Then when you’re ready for your day, you’re ready for your day.
Too many people hit the snooze button, then grab a cup of coffee as they’re running out the door and wonder why they’re always on the back foot.
When you’re not in control of your day, your day is in control of you.
And something else I realised……completing a box set on Netflix isn’t an achievement.
Forcing yourself to do a ten hour TV marathon and be the first to say that you’ve watched a series, isn’t something to be proud of.
I can see that now. Ten hours watching people like Jim Rohn, Bob Proctor, or learning a skill on YouTube, is a whole lot better than wondering how the good guy is going get the bad guy.
You want the ending to that show? The good guy wins and everyone lives happily ever after. Or maybe not. But the good guy survives because he’ll be back in season 2.
Sorry for spoiling everything on Netflix for you.
You know what else I’m doing? I’m following my own advice, following the Clever Content Creation system.
Right now, it’s 7 in the morning. By 9, I’ll have a blog post, social media images, a video, and a track for a podcast episode done.
Anything else I do after that is icing on the cake.
For things to change, things have to change.
If you’re looking for something to sell, you need something to sell. If you need something to build a list, you need something to build a list.
You can do both with this…Clever Content Creation.
PS – You’ll find the images on my Instagram account in case you’re interested. If you’re on, let me know and I’ll follow you.
