My Wife’s At It Again…

….remember how my wife has a knack for drawing the weird and wonderful to her?

Well, she’s at it again.

This week was a prime example.

She took our middle teen to the doctor for an appointment. And Catherine being Catherine, she got talking to the lady beside her.

A minute into it, and she quickly realized that the woman she was talking to was confusing her with someone that she used to work with.

My wife being polite, keep going and nodding her head. She said that our son was giving her that “Do you know this woman?” look

By the end, Catherine had to apologize and say that she wasn’t the woman the lady thought she was.

“Really? Because you look so much like her?” she said.

Anyhoo…

….a few days later Catherine was grocery shopping.

And in the middle of it, the same woman (from the doctors office) came over and threw her arms around her, giving her a big hug.

“You’ll never believe this, but I was talking to a woman the other day that looked just like you,” she grinned.

“That’s because that was me you were talking to,” Catherine replied.

“Oh!”

Cue major embarrassing moment, and lot’s of red faces on both sides.

Who knows, maybe this is some unexplained destined thing that’s trying to make them become friends…

….or my wife’s magnetism for the weird and wonderful.

Whoever the mystery woman was, she must have made a hell of an impression on the other woman. Enough to make her hug a complete stranger in the supermarket.

Good books are like that too.

If you’ve got a memorable character, they stick with your readers long after they’ve closed the book.

How do you make them memorable?

Here’s a good place to start.

PS – Gimme an A…A, gimme a B..B…

Know how hard it to come up with something starting with Z?

It’s hard, believe me.
