Let’s Focus On You For A Moment

…if there’s one thing that’s fallen under the wheels of the Internet it’s people’s ability to focus on any one thing.

Fire up Google, and you can go everywhere in a matter of seconds.

“Don’t like that? Well, how about this?”

And you’re off once more following a pop-up ad, or the latest celebrity news.

Right, now the ability to focus has got even worse. If it’s not the cliff we’re falling off due to the Corona, it’s the pit filled with teeth that the broken economy has in store for us.

And when you focus on that, things do sound bad.

But are any of those things within your control?

Got a cure for Corona in your back pocket?

Got fifty squillion bucks stashed away somewhere?

Funny, me neither.

Which means…

There’s nothing I can do about either. – Other than screaming ‘Unclean!’ at anyone that steps inside my two
metre bubble.

BTW – You should try it, it’s a great conversation starter. : )

So, what are you in control of?

I’d imagine the care of your family and your business.

The family bit, I’ll leave in your safe hands.

The business bit, that’s a different story.

And that’s what we’re going to look at today.

We’re gonna focus on you.

And that’s what I want you to focus on….just you.

I want you to grab a piece of paper, after you read this, and write down what you need right now.

Not what I think you need.

Not what the gurus think you need.

And not what a pop up says you need.

What…YOU….need.

Is it getting better at coming up with storylines?

Is it creating more colouring books?

Is it writing a daily blog post?

Is it creating a new product?

Then write it down.

Now, what would be the one thing on that list that would make the biggest difference to you?

Again, don’t look at this through anyone’s eyes but your own.

What is it?

Now, what I want you to do is put that on a piece of card and stick it to the side of your laptop or monitor.

That’s the only thing you focus on.

If it’s something that’s within your power to do, like creating colouring book pages, then that’s your one and only task for the day.

Anything else like Facebook, your emails, or anything else is ignored until you’ve got your work done.

If it’s something you’re not in control of, like a skill you want to learn, then that’s your sole task…nothing else.

And if you do weaken and look at your inbox, filter them through that lens.

Look at your piece of card.

Is this product or service going to help me right now, as in get my main task done?

If it’s not, it’s deleted and got rid of. – The sales letter isn’t worth a second of your time. You’ve got better things to do.

And when you’re not working at the laptop, keep a copy of your main task on a card, either in your pocket, or stick it somewhere you’ll notice it regularly.

Do that over the next few days and I guarantee…

– You’ll get more done.
– Be a lot happier because you’re focused on something you can control.
– And save more money by not impulse buying.

So…

…what should you focus on?

Write it, read it, and more importantly do it.

Now, if you’re not sure what you should be focusing on, the best thing you can do sit down and find out what makes you tick.

Do that little piece of homework and you’ll find it a lot easier to not only get things done, but know you’re walking
in the right direction.

How do you do it?

I’ve laid it all out in a video series right here.
