My Brain Fart Yesterday

…as you probably know, I’ve been away for a few days,

Me, Mrs. Mac, and our youngest son Finn.

Anyways, I was getting myself comfy and settling down to watch the latest football match in the Euro’s when I heard this groan from across the room.

‘I’m bored!’

‘You’re bored? – You’ve got a device in your hand, the Internet only a click away, and you’re bored?’

Of course like any good parent, born pre-Internet, I told him about the crap we had to amuse ourselves with.

Queue lots of eye-rolling and the mental shutters coming down. – Because who wants to listen to an old fart that grew up in the black and white days.

‘Do you know why you’re bored? – Because you’re doing something you shouldn’t be doing.’

Silence.

Not just from him, but from me too, because it’s so true.

Because if you loved what you were doing, you’d be so lost in it that boredom would never appear on the horizon.

And that’s something you need to keep in mind…you’ll never get the results….or get to the level of the person you’re trying to copy…if your heart’s not in it.

The reason Arnold was never out of the gym was that he was obsessed with lifting weights.

The reason Stephen King keeps writing books is that he’s obsessed with his stories.

The reason Richard Branson is probably going to beat Jeff Bezos into space is that he’s obsessed with the next challenge.

You’ll never outwork them.

You’ll never outearn them.

You’ll never be more motivated than them.

Because they’re doing what they should be doing.

And that’s something you need to ask yourself….should I be doing this?

Is this boring the hell out of me?

Is this frustrating me in a bad way?

Is this something that I have to motivate myself to do each day?

Is this something I’m doing for me, or am I trying to be a photocopy of someone else?

You mightn’t like the answer to some of those questions.

But it’ll shine a light on what you should be doing.

For me, one of the things I love doing is creating products.

Products that I can set up and bring in an income when I’m doing other things…like going on holiday.

And this is how you can do it too.
