The Easy Way Ain’t Always The Best Way

…’The easy things usually aren’t very profitable.’ Jim Rohn.

It’s easy to sit in front of the TV.

It’s easy not to exercise.

It’s easy not to sit down to write.

It’s easy not to email.

It’s easy not to promote yourself.

It’s easy not to pay for book ads.

I could go on, making you scroll your way down to infinity, but you get the point.

Easy is hardly ever profitable, or gives you the results you want.

When it is, it can be taken off you, in the blink of an eye.

Back in the Wild West Days of the Kindle store, I remember the time you could throw a book together without any effort, and get paid well for doing it.

Then the door burst open, and everyone putting in as little effort as I was, started to eat away at my profits.

Easy wasn’t profitable anymore.

The people who moved up to the next level, put in more effort, paid for ads, built lists, and went beyond one book.

Thing is, not everyone wanted to up their game.

‘Write another book?’

‘Pay to sell this thing?’

‘Now I need to collect email addresses?’

‘Forget that! I’m outta here.’

And so the dust settled…and the folks that made more effort, made more money. They also started to build businesses that were harder to muscle in on.

You can apply that rule to anything.

Online or offline.

If you’re always looking for ways that are easy, don’t require you to stretch yourself, don’t be surprised if you’re not getting the results you want.

In my own case, I’ve dreaded doing a Facebook live for the longest time.

‘I’ll be crap at it.’

‘What’ll I talk about?’

‘What if I goof up? …I can’t edit it out.’

Because I’m afraid of doing them, I know I need to do them.

I also know that others won’t do them for the very same reasons.

Easy is nice, but it ain’t very profitable.
