Itchin’ for a Stitchin’

….ever have one of those days where you just want someone to pick a fight with you.
Coming off the phone with our home insurers today left me that way.
My wife’s ring went missing the other day, and by all accounts, it looks like we’ll never see it again. Compared to some of the bling that’s going around nowadays, it’s value isn’t huge. But when you’ve got it on your home insurance, you expect them to honor their word.
As you’ve probably guessed, they haven’t…and better yet… they made me feel like I was pulling some kinda swindle on them.
I mean look at that face down there, does it look like a con man?
Maybe you better not answer that…so moving quickly on…one of our group was feeling a little on the delicate side today.
She’d been having problems finishing off the second book in her trilogy. Because of some unkind works she got.
With the mood I was in, I told her what she could do with those words. Maybe a little stronger than she expected.
And I’m going to give you the same advice, without the F bombs.
With self publishing there’s only one person you’ve got to please – YOU!
Not your friends, family, not even your fans. It’s you.
You start doing things to please others you’ll hate yourself in the long term. Plus, you’re also giving them the power to make you happy.
Don’t do that.
Don’t let anyone make you feel small.
Make sh** that makes you happy. Not only will you be happier, but others will sense if from your work.
The days I wrote for myself were the happiest times with my writing. Those books were also the most successful
of mine.
If fiction is your where your heart is, Mike’s new course might be what you’re
looking for. He takes it a lot further than I did with my A-Z course.
It’s worth checking out. I watched a few videos yesterday. Never really gave much thought to theme until now.
Now that I’ve vented…. go out there and make something just for you.
End of sermon.
PS – I couldn’t resist emailing them back. Hey, I love to email….I don’t think I’ll be getting a reply anytime soon.
PPS – Question – What do hospital gowns and insurance policies have in common?
Answer – You’re never covered as much as you think you are.
